Year 8's morning out and about

On our year 8 day we left with no idea where we were going and ended up at the World Gym, Invercargill. We met  Sid Cummings, who owns the gym, who told us what to do. We started with riding the bikes then step ups for a min and then back on the bikes and keep going in 2 minute blocks. The tricep dips was the hardest one,I thought. At the end we met the strongest man in nz as he was lifting barbels with 100kgs on his arms. Sid talked to us about setting goals, being focused and determined.

Polyfest 2014

On the 27th of August the Senior room and Room 1 joined up for polyfest. When we arrived at Invercargill we went to stadium southland. We found our guide to show us around and we got taken to watch about 4 different groups to gain our confidence . Then it was our turn to show everyone how it was done. It was over in about 5 mins but in the end it was still fun.

John Parsons visit

This is our classroom having a session with John Parsons. John teaches us about cyber safety. Today he taught us about doing kind and respectful things for people. Also, about asking for permission before putting photos of other people on the Internet or facebook and being thoughtful about the information we put on the Internet.

The Goldfields Experience was brilliant. Really enjoyable and some of us found some gold. If you ever get a chance to go, ask for Dave to be your guide - great value.
All home now safe and sound and on time. Great camp, great kids, great parent help. Thanks all.

High ropes on camp

Mr Creans test piece

Wednesday

Today was a wicked day packed with fun. We started of with the flying fox,  which was wicked. Then it was the high ropes, it was a blast. Michael and I we were really fast on the ropes course. Next up, was rock climbing which really took the energy out of me. I also got the fastest time on the rock wall.    18:87sec. Great day.

Tuesday

Today on camp we got up early for a yummy breakfast and some of us went for a cross country training run. After everyone was finished breakfast we packed our day packs and at 10am we went to Stewartstown to have a tour and get told some old gold stories about some of the miners. After the tour was finished we went back to camp and had lunch. After lunch we got ready for a bike ride down to the old Cromwell.
Keifer
Mountain biking - We began along the road and crossed the bridge. We all sped down  the huge hills. It was really tough in some parts but the views were worth it. A far few of us were tired at the end of the day but a bracing swim in the Bannockburn schol camp pool helped revive us.

Monday

Today on senior room camp we went kayaking, rafting and abseiling in three rotations. It was fun because everyone had a great time. At kayaking the water was super cold and I was first one under. Next was rafting and we had to make our own raft  it was tricky but eventually we kicked it out into the water to see how good our rafts. We didn't sink.
Shauna
I was nervous about abseiling but I gave it a go and then another. It was really high up and I am afraid of heights. It was exhilarating. I would do it again, no hesitation next time.
